I haven't mentioned this, but I've been doing it since the first month of school: using a Pringles lid as a coaster. I must have needed a coaster or something, so I saved a Pringles lid. It works great; the cup stays off the desk. It was free, and it doesn't look bad. I definitely recommend saving a bunch of Pringles lids and painting them (or just leaving them plain) over buying coasters.
